Aims of the Course • ESOL courses are designed to help non-native speakers of English improve their skills in speaking, writing and understanding the English language. SQA units are offered at Access 2, Access 3, Intermediate Level 1 and 2. The opportunity may also be available for students to take Cambridge examinations at various levels at an extra cost. Placing in an appropriate group will be undertaken by lecturing staff.
Entrance Requirements For beginners’ courses, no specific entry qualifications are required.
For more advanced courses, it is recommended that you discuss your qualifications, experience and requirements with an appropriate member of staff.
Duration of the Course ESOL courses are offered on a part time or evening class basis according to demand and vary in duration.
Progression In most cases it is possible to progress from one course to the next within the College.
Exam Fee Students wishing to sit examinations will be expected to pay exam fees.
Language courses will run provided there is sufficient demand to make classes viable.
Course Code MOCMPRENGE
West Moray ESOL Project Through the West Moray ESOL Project ESOL courses are free in the Forres, Grantown, Nairn and surrounding areas. These courses are available for everyone and help may be provided with transport costs if needed. Some classes run during the daytime and others during the evening.
