My work draws its vitality
from the space around me. Using the familiar and unfamiliar I investigate
the space, drawing into and onto it as part my explorations, using electrical
wire and tape, wood and paint. By rubbing and scoring at the surface I look
beneath the exterior, by building up layers I create new dimensions. Highlighting
the unobserved spaces such as light switches, pipes and door handles I
sensitise our perceptions. This process is more than a means of creating
art, it is the art.
My work questions our concept of space, questions our concept of reality.
Should we accept the space we are given, whether mentally, physically or
socially?
