Using Digital Photography
and computer manipulation along with my chosen subject of old trees, I try
to take myself and the viewer on a visual journey through the natural doorways
in the trees. These doorways, are portals to another world, a world of the
imagination where we can be, and do, any thing, without the constraints of
normal life a world where I can live in Rivendell or Lothlorien.
This journey for me is a refuge, an escape from the stresses of every day
life. I want to go where Lucy went in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,
to be like Lyra and Will in His Dark Materials, like Alice in Wonderland,
Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden, like George MacDonald going through the
secret cupboard in the Secretary in Phantastes, and especially like Peter
Pan and the Lost Boys who lived inside the tree.
Hopefully for the viewer my pictures are an invitation, to come with me inside
the tree to find out where these doorways, and the paths beyond them, will
take us. |
