Student Union Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is chaired by the Students’ Union President and meets every month to discuss student issues.

The following students are members of the Executive Committee:

President
The President is a full-time sabatical post.
  • The President is employed to ensure that student views are fully represented across College committees.
  • The President also covers the responsiblities of the vacant positions and works closely with the members of the Executive Committee.

vacancy Vice-President
The Vice President shall:
  • Support the President in the implementation of his/her duties
  • Deputise when the President is absent

Amanda Mclennan Secretary
The Secretary shall:
  • Be responsible for organizing and publishing all Student Association meetings
  • Be responsible for drawing up circulating the agendas for every meeting
  • Be responsible for ensuring that minutes are taken of every Association meeting and that copies are distributed to Executive Committee Members, and a copy is kept on file.

M J Strachan Entertainment Officer
The Entertainment Officer shall be responsible for organising and promoting student events in response to student demand and shall:
  • Organise and publicise a variety of entertainment and other social activities to reflect the interests of all sections of the student body
  • Establish and maintain contact with relevant clubs, societies, companies and organization that may be advantageous to students.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with relevant officers at other colleges in the area.
  • Ensure that all social activities are well publicised to ALL students, including those at other sites.
  • In conjunction with the Treasurer and Student Liaison Office, ensure that all money from ticket sales is banked as soon as possible.
  • Be responsible for encouraging student involvement in charity and voluntary work through the organisation of events and campaigns
Grant Falconer Sports Officer
The roles of the Sports Officer include:
  • Supporting the students’ sports club alongside the Games Hall Assistant and Students’ Union President.
  • Organising and assisting in any sporting events in the college or involving Moray College students.

Kenny Barron Equality Officer
The Equality Officer is responsible for
  • Ensuring that the views of students of all ethnicities are represented in the Students’ Union.
  • Representing ethnic minorities in all areas of student life
  • To be responsible for ensuring that the activities of the Union do not discriminate against or offend students of any ethnicity.
  • Encourage the participation of all ethnicities in the Students' Union, and to work to ensure that ethnic minority groups have the opportunities to fulfil their potential in all aspects of College life.
  • Work to promote and address the concerns of all mature students.
  • Provide a mature student perspective in all Union activities.
  • Raising awareness of health and welfare issues that affect students through campaigns, literature and events.
  • Work with Student Services in accordance with the Healthy Schools and Colleges initiative as well as the Executive Committee.
  • Raise student awareness of issues such as smoking cessation, bullying, drugs, binge drinking and personal safety and promote the creation of a healthier College culture.
  • Ensuring that Disabled Students’ views and opinions are reflected throughout the whole of the Student Union and College bodies.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with relevant officers at other colleges in the area.
  • Keep abreast of College and national developments in relevant policy as it affects students’.
  • Raising awareness including issues that affect disabled students through campaigns, literature and events.
  • Ensuring that Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual and Transgender (LBGT) students’ views and opinions are reflected throughout the whole of the Student Union.
  • Provide a LGBT perspective on all matters concerning the Union and the college, and ensure there is a regular forum/group where LGBT students can meet.
  • Establish and maintain contact with, and provide information from, groups and organisations, which work on LGBT issues
  • Promote the positive involvement of LGBT students in all areas of Student Union activities
  • Represent the views of LGBT students to the Student Union and College
Louise Argo Women’s Officer
The Womens’ officer is responsible for
  • Ensuring that women students’ views and opinions are reflected throughout the whole of the Student Union.
  • Representing women in all areas of student life.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that the activities of the Union do not discriminate against or offend women.
  • Encourage the participation of women in the Students' Union, and to work to improve their opportunities to fulfil their potential in all aspects of College life.

Vacancy Technology Centre Officer
The Technology Centre Officer shall represent the voice of students at Linkwood.

Robert Beattie International Students’ Officer(s)
The International Students’ Officer shall represent the voice of ERAMSUS and international students at Moray College. The International Students’ Officer’s roles include:
  • Representing the views and opinions of International Students in all areas of student life.
  • Providing ideas about new ways to incorporate international students into academic and social life at Moray College.
  • Encourage the participation of international students in the Students' Union and to work to improve their opportunities to fulfil their potential in all aspects of College life.
